Southside Band
How does the Southside Band program work?
Each band student receives one lesson a week in a small group setting with other students at the same level. Students also have 1-2 rehearsals a week, depending on which ensemble they play in.
Class expectations: Please see a copy of the band assessment rubric which goes out at the end of each trimester. Students are expected to bring their instrument, music and planner to each lesson. Each week I stamp the students planner, which is to be filled out and signed by a parent after each practice session. I expect 30 minutes of practice a night, 5 nights a week. Students are also required to bring their instrument to each band rehearsal.

Grading
Students are expected to practice their instruments at home and have instruments ready for lessons and rehearsals. Students will bring home their planners nightly which will have not only their classroom assignments but a section where their practice times are to be recorded.
